Every so often I get a request for advice that I think would be a good talking point with the reader community I have here at Submissive Guide. Here's one that I think deserves a highlight. Please leave your thoughts and advice for AnySub in the comments!

I just discovered your website last week. I have been checking in to it every day, and I love the articles! I'm not sure how I would be classified, since I'm not sure of the lingo, and what it exactly it all means just yet, but up to now, I've just considered myself a "life-long submissive", since I've been a people-pleaser since I was just an itty-bitty thing. But I'm kind of confused, because I didn't used to think of my husband and I as a BDSM couple, even though we sometimes practiced light bondage in the bedroom. Then I happened across "Taken In Hand" a month ago, and that was a revelation! Well, on the site it says that it's not DD, TPE, D/s, BDSM, and whole bunch of other acronyms. I knew what BDSM was, but not the other 3. After looking it up I figured we must be D/s, so I started looking it up and found you, but your wonderful site seems to be about BDSM. I know that I am a submissive-type woman, I've known it since I was little, I could never live any other way, it's what I am. And my husband is definitely a confident, aggressive and dominant man, and has worked hard not to be domineering. But we don't go to BDSM clubs (or any clubs, really), and we are very private about our sex-life, partially because our friends think he's domineering enough as it is and that I'm a doormat. But this is our life! I just don't know what to call it... Do you think I'd fit in?

For many people, labels are a comfortable way of feeling like they are part of a group and perhaps that's what AnySub is needing right now, to feel like she's not alone.  But then, being so new is it really important to tack on a label before you know who you are?

What are your thoughts and advice for AnySub?

Should she categorize herself and her relationship as a D/s relationship or something else? Would you recommend she disregard all labels until such time that she understand more about herself? I want to know!
