A tip for colored hair: do NOT use the hot-as-you-can-stand-it water rule. I bathe in a tub full of hot water but wash my hair separately in the kitchen sink at the advice of more than one hair care specialist. If you have colored hair it is essential that you use cool/tepid water to wash your hair without washing the color away. If you use hot water you will find your color drab and washed out looking in no-time, regardless of all the hair care products on the market that “claim” to be for colored hair. Just a tip to make those tresses stay colored beautifully and shiny!

I know I’m late to the conversation but I have another tip for colored hair. Do not wash it for the first three days after dying it. Do rinse it as often as you need to clear up oil build up and to help get the dye off your scalp. Not washing for three days allows the dye to set in your hair and last longer in-between.

A general tip for haircare, the difference between more expensive products and the cheaper ones is the amount of wax or silicone in them. The wax and silicone only smooth down the follicle and give the appearance of healthy hair. If you want to improve your hair and skin, drink more water. Seriously. The bit about the pricey haircare products is based on a news report comparing shampoos and conditioners.

If you have dry skin and you have not been able to find the right lotion for your skin. Try mineral oil or baby oilright out of the shower, for some it maybe to oilly but for others it will feel great on your skin. The best way to apply it is right after you turn off the water. Rub it on and wait for about 15 seconds before you dry off. Make sure your skin is still wet.

baby oil or mineral oil (which is what is in baby oil) is actually not good for your skin. consider this – if it’s safe to put IN your body, it’s safe to put ON your body. a light vegetable oil or canola oil is nice and cheap and convenient. olive oil is great when you need a bit more moisture. my personal favorite is a combination of sweet almond oil and a little jojoba oil (which is actually a liquid wax) – a ratio of 5:1 works well for me. when using natural products, you will find the oils will be absorbed and leave you feeling soft, smooth, and sensual.

adding a few drops of essential oil such as jasmine or rose can be wonderfully enriching and nourishing for the skin. if you are bruised, helichrysum essential oil and a little lavender EO with the oil can work wonders to aid healing.

I have a couple of stripper friends and they swear that oil of olay body ribbons made their skin so nice many customers complimented them on how soft they felt. I used it and love it – may not work for everyone but just an idea.

I feel the need to add some caveats to your post about bathing every day with a BIG “it all depends”. It depends on your body chemistry (do you sweat a lot, is your skin naturally dry, do you easily emit odor, etc.). If you perform heavy work or work in dirty conditions–yes bath every day; maybe even twice a day. However, if you don’t have any of these extraordinary issues you probably do not need an extensive, full bath/shower with deep cleansing every day. Bathing extensively everyday can actually strip the skin of much needed oils which also act to protect the skin. Moisturizing on the outside is never as good as what the body can create from within.

One should wash up with soap and water every day and as often as necessary in the genital and anal regions. Also, wash your face daily (and more) but use mild cleaners no matter your skin type. Our faces are exposed to more than our clothed bodies.

You said: “It’s amazing how many people don’t bathe everyday. If you don’t live in a 3rd world country then you should have no problem bathing every single day.”

A lot of people tend to take things as black and white, and not realize the gray areas of “it all depends”. I think the mix-up can happen in the meaning of BATHE. Bathing or taking a bath should not be thought of as synonymous with a full body scrub & deep cleansing in a long, water-as-hot-as-you-can-stand-it bath or shower. There are levels of bathing. And yes, one should always perform some daily regime of bathing.

As for getting ready for you Master or Dom that requires a greater level of attention, and special care.

Im a dairy farmer, so i dry out allot as well has get rather filthy so i do shower every day. this i find strips all the moisture and i have a bugger of a time from stopping my skin drying out. Now i have a great remedy that also saves time and money and my skin is radiant to boot!

Mix raw sugar and coconut oil or almond oil or a mix of either. i scrub myself with this each night and do not need to moisturise anymore. Google for other interesting recipes. I did that when i got sick of the expense of to branded stuff and this is what ive got now. much better!
PS sugar is better than salt as salt draws moisture away and sugar dosnt.

I have a medium-stiff bristled body brush that I use all over my body before getting into the tub or shower. It starts the exfoliation process and also helps improve circulation. Love the essential oils idea in place of baby oil. I’m switching so thanks for those tips. I’ve used a sugar scrub with a pumice stone on my feet daily to keep them soft and smooth. The sugar scrub I do once a week and the pumice stone I use daily.
